Fortaleza to Gain Direct Flights to Madrid Starting 2026

Beginning in January 2026, Spanish airline Iberia will launch direct flights between Fortaleza and Madrid, starting with three weekly connections, and expanding to four by March. Ticket sales began on March 25, 2025, marking a new milestone in the city's international integration.

Fortaleza’s location on the northeastern tip of South America makes it the closest major Brazilian capital to Europe, significantly reducing flight time and enhancing accessibility. This geographical advantage is complemented by its status as a key digital infrastructure hub, hosting one of the largest concentrations of undersea fiber optic cables in the Southern Hemisphere, connecting Latin America to North America, Europe, and Africa.

At Latitude3, we are strategically headquartered in Fortaleza because we believe in its unique positioning—not just as a tourist destination, but as a global platform for investment, innovation, and connectivity.

During the first two months of 2025, Ceará recorded a 55.7% increase in international tourist arrivals via direct flights compared to the same period in 2024. European travelers accounted for 66.05% of those visitors, confirming the growing relevance of air connectivity for the region’s economy.

We expect the new Madrid–Fortaleza route to have a direct impact on the real estate and hospitality sectors, especially for high-value tourism, second homes, and fractional ownership. At Latitude3, we remain focused on aligning our projects with these expanding global flows—connecting people, capital, and purpose along the Coast of Brazil.
